What This Was...

* For two years, a reminder of the beauty of the simple parts of life everyday in the face of battles that are not beautiful.

* For two years, a reminder to enjoy everyday for the parts that you love, because they are always there, sometimes you just have to stretch really hard to find them.

* For two years, a reminder to slow down when the pace of the world could be 1000x faster than you wanted it to be.  It started as just pictures, then one day she asked for me to add my voice. Shucks, I think she liked it because the words could just have easily been written by her.

* For two years, a reminder to a special person that she was a part of the beauty that I tried to capture, when she needed it most. She always laughed a bit that some people she never knew, and never would know, would share the same joy that she got from some simple pictures that her eldest daughter took.

* For two years, a place for me to try and capture some of the love that she had given to me when I felt I didn't have enough time left with her to ever possibly tell her. It worked.

February 4, 2011: I couldn't resist....

She was looking so cute, her mom had packed that little hat, she is learning to sit up, yada yada yada. It was all just too hard to resist and babies are that section of the populace who never get camera shy.

February 3, 2011: That Two Day Blizzard, After

Realizing that usually I walk under that arbor into the vegetable garden...

Chipping out at least a little space that is capable of being walked on, after all that shoveling of course. Gotta love that pick axe

January 29, 2011: Icicles

01292011a

One of the most beautiful things about winter is looking at these icicles hanging from the house. They are so pure and glittery and catch the light in such amazing ways. Now, that being said, I had to resend their invitation from my house. Why, you ask? Well, they were starting to cause some water issues. We are not fans of uttering the combination of 'water' and 'issues' when it comes to houses. So, down they came. These were the very very small ones. There were a few hits on the head and a little bit of muttering under one's breath as they crashed and broke.

Don't worry, they will return before I know it no doubt :-) I don't think that was their last stand.

January 27, 2011: Sunny

Oh my, I would happily shovel many more 12" snow storms like the one that came through last night if it was as sunny as it was today. I could just feel that inner warmth that only standing in the sun can give you. We started off in the normal 5-10 winter layers and by the time we came back inside had shed all except for 2. Now that is a good day.

At one point assistance with a snow fort was requested. I was heavily involved in digging when I hit grass (!!) and was so amazed at the earthy smell. It was so refreshing.

It must have been nice if I felt like I would do some self portraits. I really really do prefer to be behind that lens, not in front.

Claire on the other hand, that girl LOVES to be in front of the camera, especially with requests for 'silly faces'.
